Hey Reader, "For fast-acting relief, try slowing down.” Lily Tomlin Do you have any space in your calendar? Or is it chocc-a-blocka full? Do you feel guilty when you find yourself doing nothing? Or do you embrace the Italian way of the dolce far niente? In case you haven't read Eat, Pray, Love or don't know any Italians, perhaps Southern Italians to be specific... it means "the sweetness of doing nothing". It’s not about actually doing nothing, but more about letting go of the need to always be productive. It’s those moments when you have no real agenda, just letting the day unfold naturally. Maybe you linger over a coffee, call a friend for a chat, take a slow walk, lose yourself in book or stop and just listen to music... whatever you feel. It’s about savouring the simple, unplanned moments and realising these simple moments can be full of joy. This kind of energy is Yin energy in Eastern philosophy. It's the Yin to the Yang of filling the calendar with events, dropping the kids to all those extracurriculars, getting to the gym every day... and your other hundred and one to-dos. There's nothing wrong with these things... they are great, actually! But, perhaps there needs to be a little balance? More Yin amongst this Yang? If you’re not familiar with Yin Yoga, here’s a quick overview: Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative style that focuses on longer-held poses. Instead of just working your muscles, it targets the deeper connective tissues like fascia, ligaments and joints. This helps improve flexibility, joint health and overall balance. Plus, it’s a powerful way to calm the mind and release stored tension. It's an amazing addition to a very Yang way of living! It’s a beautiful way to welcome in more balance and better health for body and mind. If you've never tried a Yin Yoga class, here's one to try! More on the topic of Yin! We are in creation mode, MerryBody Yin Yoga Teacher Training is happening! After months of diving deep into the magic of Yin Yoga, it feels amazing to finally start putting these lessons together. Hello amazing Reader, We're about to go to the shops to buy some ingredients for family dinner... we're making Ragu and we're deciding on what cake to make... should we go for the zesty Lemon and Ricotta cake (check out the recipe below), or the rich, chocolatey Torta Caprese? What's for dinner at your house tonight? On another note, this week (the first week of September, can you believe it?!) we recorded our first podcast since Carla welcomed baby Denny to the world (go Sis!). And since...
